Deja Vu! This is J&M Brown’s second time building out the MIT museum and we were happy to be part of the team again. The new location occupies the first 3 floors of a new building in the heart of Kendall Square. Galleries, workshops, offices and interconnecting stairwells comprise most the modernly-designed museum. J&M Brown performed all the electrical construction including lighting, lighting controls, distribution, solid-bottom cable tray, power and fire alarm.

Highlights:

  • Design-assisted AV conduit routing
  • 6-months of 3D BIM prior to start
  • Installed roughly 1000′ of Litelab track lights

MIT Theater Arts – 345 Vassar St, Cambridge MA

By Education, Special

MIT renovated a former warehouse to create a new home for their Theater Arts program. With an aggressive schedule, the building was gutted and rebuilt with a new distribution system, A/V system, Fire Alarm system, and advanced lighting controls. Building W97 now has rehearsal spaces, studios, offices, costume and scene design shops, dressing rooms, and a performance space. This A/V intense job was coordinated through SprectumIT, J&M Brown’s low-voltage company, as a mean of making the whole project run more smoothly.
