The development of the 128 industrial belt is powered by J. & M. Brown’s electrical construction of such prominent facilities as Raytheon, Polaroid, and Coca Cola Bottling Plant.
1968-1973
Company constructs 28 State Street, 60 State Street, One Beacon Street, and 100 Summer Street as the Boston skyline takes shape
1979
J.& M. Brown Company purchased by Maurice Noon. David Noon joins the company.
1974-1985
J.& M. Brown lights up Boston’s hospitality industry with the construction of key area hotels, including the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, the Back Bay Hilton, the Four Seasons, and Cambridge Center Marriott
1985-1990
The company continues to build prominent commercial structures in Boston’s Back Bay with the electrical construction of 500 Boylston Street and 222 Berkeley Street
1987
J. & M. Brown opens its Fire Alarm Division. Early projects include complete new systems at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and the The Sheraton Hotel.
1990
David Noon becomes company president as Maurice Noon ‘retires’
1993-1995
Boston adds a new sports and entertainment landmark with J. & M. Brown’s electrical construction of the Fleet Center, the new home of the Boston Celtics and Bruins
1995
The company starts operation of its tel-data and security systems division, Spectrum Integrated Technologies
2000
J. & M. Brown opens the new millennium with the largest project in company history, the $19 million electrical construction of the 550,000 square foot BCBS HQ and Data Center at the Landmark Center.
2001-2007
A new world class athletic facility for MIT, the renovation of the Trinity Church, the construction of the Harvard Dental Research and Education Building and the new 680,000 square foot Charles River Plaza medical laboratory building are just a few of the current projects which represent JMB’s diverse experience and capabilities.
2008-2009
J. & M. Brown provides comprehensive electrical construction of the new American Wing of the Museum of Fine Arts
2010-2011
J. & M. Brown provides comprehensive electrical restoration for MIT Building W1 and MIT Building E60, renovation of the African American Museum on Beacon Hill, the Winchester Hospital Cancer Care Renovation and Expansion, and Sheraton Boston Grand Ballroom.
2012 – 2014
Company completes award-winning exterior and interior lighting restoration of MIT’s Great Dome. Comprehensive renovation of 50 Post Office Square (formerly 185 Franklin Street) and 400,000 square-foot build-out of building’s primary tenant, Brown Brothers Harriman. Construction of Longwood Center’s state-of-the-art 11-story life science facility and concurrent fit-out of Dana-Farber’s 154,000 square-feet of cutting-edge lab space. 100 Pier 4 Boston residential/mixed-use high-rise project awarded and under construction in Boston’s Seaport district.
2015 – 2016
The Seaport area is in a construction boom. J&M Brown becomes part of the largest project in Boston by being awarded the core & shell for One Seaport Square, Parcels B & C.
2017 – 2018
The construction boom continues throughout Boston. Mass+Main in Central Square, 150 Seaport (the old Whiskey Priest building) and the fit-out of Boston Consulting Group spotlight some projects J&M Brown worked on. Additionally, J&M Brown is awarded the prime contractor for installing hundreds of Electric Vehicle Charging stations in the Boston area.
2019
J&M Brown becomes a distributor for Autocall fire alarm system in Boston, MA.
