RE: Moment for praise
I want to send a shout out to you folks regarding Foreman Steve Warden of SpectrumIT
He has repeatedly, with a refreshing professional manner – navigated us through complex challenges that have many trades, details and personalities.
Not an easy “boat” to keep on task
PNC, general contractor, Security, door installers, electricians, ………etc.
He did have a cool super though.
Great asset for our team.
Thank you , Steve!

RE: DLA Piper Project
Michael, today was my last day on the DLA Project. Sean Cadigan will be taken the Project to it’s completion. I just wanted to take a moment and let you know how satisfied I was with the JM Brown team. Michael, it was a pleasure working with you. Your professionalism, attention to detail and quick responses throughout the project was key to our success. Thank you. I cannot say enough good things about Bill. The way Bill treats his crew with respect and direction along with his attention to detail made a very tough Phased project a lot smoother. His ability to work together seamlessly with the other trades also increased productivity on the jobsite. I hope I have the opportunity to work again in the near future.

RE: Successful Completion of Cornerstone Installation
Like a great many others, our condo association EV charging station install project was seriously delayed by the pandemic. However, I write to report that, once the new Eversource pole went in, construction has proceeded extremely well. This is due mostly to J&M Brown Co (electrical) and The Welch Corp (sitework), each of whom has performed with excellence throughout the delay, and now, in the field. Their respective PMs, Dave Adam and Mike McManus, have been endlessly responsive and cooperative, inclusive of close collaboration on location and design details; protecting our abutter’s landscaping; and storage of our pre- purchased EV equipment for more than half a year. Field operations were safe and well-organized, and the finished installation appears well-built and high-quality. Residential condo projects can be small and fussy nuisances, but we were treated invariably as an important project and a valued customer. I definitely recommend both these companies and their personnel for any similar work.
Sincerely, R Philip Dowds
Re: The Garage at Post Office Square – EV Charging Stations
Thank you for the very professional work that was done on our building here in these challenging times. We have received many complements on the great improvement to the Garage. Your JMB workers were at all times polite, careful, cooperative, and helpful in every way. Especially great on-the-job guidance to Prevent Exposure & limit the transmission of the virus. I would not hesitate to recommend J.& M. Brown to anyone who asked about the work you performed for us. Special thanks to essential workers and Rick.

Re: Raytheon Tewksbury
Things could not be going any smoother at the Raytheon project in Tewksbury, even in light of the current pandemic and crisis everyone is facing now. Our project is still slightly ahead of schedule. Somehow all of your materials arrived early, [with] everything conforming to both to the spec and what Raytheon expected. We greatly appreciate your entire project team showing up to work every day, with as good of an attitude as you can ask for in these times. Raytheon has praised J+M Brown many times both on this project, and your previous work at their Innovation way project.
To say J+M Brown is Raytheon’s current preferred Electrical contractor would be an understatement. I’ve been told by the Raytheon PM a few times when I asked a question to “just check with JM Brown, they know how Raytheon wants it done.” Wanted to make sure you were aware of how happy Raytheon and Columbia are with your performance on this project.

Re: Encore Casino, Everett, MA
I am one of the superintendents at the Encore Casino project for Suffolk Construction Company. First of all I wanted to thank you for your teams efforts here, after receiving a TCO on last Friday. It has been a very tough and challenging job for all of us. The main reason for this e-mail is to recognize the men and women that represented J&M Brown here on this project. Tom Bache, Tina Hughes, Rich Fontes, Mike Ortiz, Ron Giovino, and specifically Kevin Dart and Bob Halloran. The leadership, patience, professionalism and can do attitude was above all standards that I have seen in my past, J&M Brown should be extremely proud in the way your company performed here on and off site. Thank you very much for everything that you did.
I am writing to you to acknowledge how well your [Spectrum IT] team handled the project in one of our buildings – 222 Berkley/500 Boylston. As you know it was not an easy undertaking. We had to upgrade the whole security system and the network. So the effort was joint with Oxford, Siemens and Spectrum/Otis. Fiber back bone was installed and all controllers replaced on the network with new switches and new server and software for security. Your team spent countless hours to make sure the system works right and was delivered on time to meet Oxford’s demanding schedule. What impressed me most is how your team handled difficult to impossible situations with Amag and Otis implementation. Terry Kildiff went out of his way to make sure the right code was written by Amag to meet our Otis destination dispatch requirements and meet the deadline for the tenant.
We are very grateful for all the effort put into it – that made our team and Spectrum look very professional in front of tenants, Draftkings and Wayfair. I would ask you to have Terry in charge our whole portfolio – Cambridge included. With his team, I’m sure we will be able to finish One Memorial (Microsoft tenant) elevator integration on time and with equally impressive results.

A huge THANK YOU to all of you and your teams who worked on the Raytheon project. This was the most aggressive schedule we have ever had to accomplish – and because of you and your teams working aggressively on procurement, long hours and weekends on and off site, and working together as a cohesive TEAM, we were able to accomplish the unimaginable. We all left a huge impression with Raytheon and built a long lasting client relationship. We could not have completed this project with out all of you and your teams… much appreciation and respect all around from all of us at Columbia. See you all on the next one!
Re: Hogan Lovells LLC fit-out, 100 High Street
Dave… As always JMB did an outstanding job. I’d like to personally thank you for running a great job for the electrical. If every trade was as professional and well run as you guys my job would be much easier, thanks again !
Re: Spectrum IT work at Harvard University
At a campus-wide Project Management meeting today regarding our projects in Allston, a question was asked of the PM’s: ‘who are your ‘go to’ contractors?’ Spectrum was my answer. This turned into a broader discussion with many project managers across the campus stating what a pleasure it is working with the Spectrum team. The meeting included representatives from Harvard Capital Projects, Harvard Medical School, Harvard School of Public Health, FAS Capital Projects, Radcliffe, HUIT, HUEHS, HUE&U and others.
Later this afternoon, in another meeting regarding ongoing work at 114 Western Avenue, a similar discussion about working with Spectrum as a vendor on campus took place. The end result was more kudos to Spectrum.

Re: One Devonshire, Boston – Main Switchboard Replacement
Thanks for a job well done. All the planning and coordination really shows through on a big weekend like this. Special thanks to Chris for all his hard work and attention to details out in the field, his professionalism and flexibility when he needed to be helped us all to meet the needs of the client and still accomplish our goal.
Always a pleasure to work with JMB on these high profile projects. Your crew did an outstanding job from set up to finish. As always. Steve had all the bases covered and Chris and his crew were right there with the schedule we gave the client.
We appreciate all your teams efforts in making this job a successful one. Well Done!

Re: Humana Studio H, 281 Summer Street, Boston Seaport – Spectrum IT Security and AV project
I wanted to let you know how much I appreciated working with [the Spectrum Team] the past 3 weeks. This project was enormously challenging, and they did a great job. Wish I had a team like that in Louisville. Overall, Humana was extremely pleased with the space during the grand opening yesterday. AV has been received quite well and that is fantastic news given the timeline we had to complete everything at the end! Thanks so much for making that possible!

This past weekend at 451 D street from 10pm-6am we were performing a shutdown to prepare for our new ATS switchgear we will be installing. I want to let you know that Mike Sawyer and Kieran Joyce are both top notch foreman. Mike Sawyer had this shutdown figured out to a tee with no issues. He had a crew of [J&M Brown electricians] and every crew member had a mission. I was very impressed with how Mike and Kieran ran the crew. It was a long night and not once did they stop.
The crew on Phase 1 was fantastic and I know it’s tough to keep the same crew, but for this shutdown we had that [same] crew and they killed it. Hard work and dedication is what this crew strives for – I just want to say GREAT JOB!!!! J&M Brown has done a great job with the security, AV, Electrical, Fire Alarm, Tele/Data… keep up the good work . I don’t want to leave out Joe Tutrone who also is a huge part of this team. Thanks for all you do.

I have worked with a lot of tech’s and I will have to say Mike is one of the best. He is always in a good mood regardless of the situation. He is thorough and makes sure he completes the job prior to leaving. I am sure you already know what a great asset he is. Thanks for sending him out tonight.
I have been working with J&M Brown for the past 19 years. My property consists of two high-rise and one low-rise Class A Office Buildings – 1.1 million square feet total. J&M Brown is the best in the business and I would not even consider using another company. They have great Fire Alarm Techs that can perform installations, trouble shooting and perform quarterly testing . They are one-stop shopping with a great management team. I would highly recommend using this firm.

I received a call at 7:26am Sunday from the Building engineer at International Place. There was a power outage on the 24th floor as an alarm signaled to the tenant that the IT room went down. J&M Brown foreman, Matt Giblin, came in immediately on Sunday to assist John Benoit (Manager BTE) in troubleshooting and helped determine the cause to be a damaged bus duct on the 5th floor, Tower 2 (not caused by Columbia Construction Company or J&M Brown). He assisted until [the issue was resolved]. John Benoit was extremely appreciative of Matt and J&M Brown’s assistance. Thanks Matt for a job well done!

Subject: Spectrum IT’s Fit-out Services
Thank you very much for helping us through a challenging situation this weekend. We were considering rescheduling our office move because we didn’t have the WAN links and voice PRIs available to support the business in the new space. Your team arranged to have mitigating materials delivered within 24hrs and 4 technicians arrived to install fiber cabling between L21 and L29 so that we could proceed with the move. They also stepped in to help solve a problem we had with the PRI cabling that Verizon was trying to bring online.
I want to specifically acknowledge Joe Hanlon who helped us until 2am Friday to ensure we had all our IT equipment moved, patched and tested in the new IT room. He had worked a double shift and was up almost 24 hours but he wouldn’t quit until we had what we needed which at that point was both WAN and PRI links and all systems tested “OK”. And, he came back the next morning early to perform all the desk patching and a host of other items that needed attention in the comms room. The help was invaluable! Spectrum’s contribution in making this weekend’s move possible, is very much appreciated.

I wanted to take an opportunity to acknowledge JMB’s effort on the Visnick & Caulfield project. The nature of the project was very demanding considering the client, schedule, etc.
It really was a pleasure working with George Lambrenos on site. He was extremely flexible and accommodating considering that the project was somewhat of a design-build project. In addition to coordinating well with myself and the other trades, he also did so with VCA personnel every day. They felt very comfortable with him and appreciated all of his and his team’s extra efforts.
I know we had to address a few issues throughout the project but thanks to George and Ed’s efforts we were able to deliver a successful project.

Things went well this morning. Everything is complete and I just want to say thank you for a job well done. Once again [the Spectrum crew] did a great job. JR is true leader. The way he works with the apprentices is commendable. Explaining things when they come up so they understand why their doing what they’re doing. You don’t see that much anymore. He was a true pleasure to work with, all your guys were, you included. I appreciate when a supervisor comes out to pitch in because I know how difficult it is with all the paperwork building up and scheduling and managing of other projects. Much appreciated! Thanks again, hope to work with you again in the future!

Re: Steward Healthcare project, 111 Huntington, Boston
We finally got our C of O for Steward today so I just wanted to reach out to you and say thank you for all the effort you and the rest of the JM Brown team put into getting us to that point. Needless to say, this was a very demanding project. We wouldn’t have been able to get it done without all of you.
I know we have some upcoming projects that we will be working together on, and we look forward to working with you [and the J&M Brown team] on them.

The technician who came by today to work with us from Spectrum was OUTSTANDING. Approached the whole system methodically and did full troubleshooting, helped me adjust Symmetry settings to reduce the “bounce” effect on the mag lock, walked me through his thought process when he needed information, and explained how he arrived at the resolution. Just wanted to pass on my kudos for the tech as he was absolutely awesome.

Dennis, I just wanted to thank you [and J&M Brown] for making my job at Car Gurus an easy one. You told me on day one I would be asking for DJ on future projects and you were correct. He was a pleasure to work with and so are you, and I look forward to working with both of you in the future. I just wanted to write this to show my gratitude. This is how jobs should go. It seems simple enough but they don’t always go as planned. Hopefully I’ll see you both in January on the next Car gurus space.

I wanted to send you a tip of the hat for your team’s commitment to safety on the Hastings Hall Project. JM Brown has consistently performed above our expectations on site and we believe that is in large part due to the leadership of Tony and Joe.
As you may be aware the PP&E on the Hastings project was slipping from an overall site perspective. We asked each contractor to address their team and ensure that this was turned around quickly. Today we gathered the entire site workforce to thank them for the improvement and re-commitment to health and safety the past few weeks.
During our appreciation today, Joe Thibodeau was awarded the site monthly safety award for his strong performance since the beginning of the job.
Keep up the great work and thank you for your efforts.
Thank you so much for the kind words and recognition. We are very proud of Tony, Joe and our entire crew and the effort they put out each and every day. Our commitment to a safe workplace is unwavering and your recognition is truly appreciated.
Andrew, the full benefit of our safety program can only be realized when the general contractor demonstrates through leadership and example that safety is truly paramount. We thank you and your team for providing that leadership which enables us to be successful.
We are very appreciative for the opportunity to work with Skanska and look forward to a safe and successful completion of this project.
David and Paul,
I wanted to take a moment and recognize the great work that [J&M Brown’s project team] Dennis and Dan pulled off on the Bullhorn project at 100 Summer Street. We had a number of challenges from the building to lighting, and they just kept pushing the project through. Despite the hardships they were always on top of everything and made sure we hit the schedule and that the client was happy; this is one of the many reasons you are my top choice for electricians in the city and a key partner of Columbia’s. We always look forward to working together, and as long as Dennis, Rick, Dan, DJ, and those guys are on the projects, I have complete confidence the job will be done right, finish on-time, and the clients will be happy. Happy clients = more work for us all.
Keep up the great work!

I just want to say you did a miraculous job getting this project completed and obtaining your Final Inspection. A lot of hard work and time went into this project. Seems deadlines [keep] getting shorter and shorter. We had over 400-project RFI’s, many of them Change Orders… without any extension of time. I just wanted to personally thank [the J&M Brown team] and let you know I appreciated the effort. If anyone would like a recommendation for a future project, I would be pleased to give you one.

I am writing this email to let you know just how pleased I am with the work being done here at the Wyndham Boston Beacon Hill. It has been an unexpected pleasure so far to deal with truly professional people that you have on your staff. To start with meeting Steve Cabral was an instant hit. From the beginning Steve has spelled every little detail out so that my staff and all the staff here know exactly when and how things are happening. So now Steve brings in Tom Campbell and Denis Donaghey and this just made my world. Two guys again who took control of the project and did nothing to interrupt our guest or staff. These two guys communicated every event happening from start to finish. And now you bring the rest of the guys in who again were very considerate of the hotel guest and employees. And again all were professional and acted as such. All of your staff here have gone above and beyond doing this project and keeping the hotel running on a daily basis. And all have been professional and considerate of our staff and our guest.
All of the staff here have had a great deal to say about your guys and it has been all praise. Again I would just like to say you should be proud of who you have on your staff. With the professionals you have working here at the Wyndham it’s no wonder J.M. Brown are who they are, a truly professional company.
Thank you again

I just wanted to follow-up with comments made by Francis Devita (Accenture) re: your [Spectrum Integrated Technologies’] installers and the work they completed. Fran commented, “ They were A+. The guys did the job exactly as requested and cleaned up after themselves as they went along. They even left push pins in the ceilings to designate where the drops were so I could easily locate them. Very happy.”
A big thank you to you and the Spectrum team for excellent communication throughout the project. I look forward to working on future projects with you and Spectrum IT.

In my various roles at Blue Cross, I’ve had the pleasure of working with Johnny Moy for over twenty years. He has always demonstrated the utmost professional and pleasant manner. Johnny is receptive, eager, and has the “can get anything done” attitude, and does it without issue. In my new managerial role, I see even more how Johnny gets work done with ease, no matter what is asked of him. He is great complement to the J&M Brown organization and BCBSMA is fortunate to have had the pleasure of working with him for all these years.
While I appreciate and value all of the J&M Brown team, Johnny is the unsung hero. He never seeks attention or praise, and sincerely just wants to do a great job.
Blue Cross, Blue Shield MA
Thank you Chris! I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to send this note. Please be assured that while you are so right about Johnny’s humility and never seeking the limelight, his skills and dedication have never gone unnoticed. John began at J & M Brown as a first year apprentice in June of 1979 and has worked here his entire career. As you can imagine, there are but a handful of electricians in our entire industry than can make a similar claim of having worked at one shop without a single layoff over a 36 year span. There is no one that represents our company better than Johnny and we are so proud of the work he does.
Thank you for recognizing Johnny and thank you for the opportunity to provide our services. Working for a great company like BCBSMA these past four decades is truly the highest form or recognition we could hope for.
All the best,

Our last night there will be this Friday 9/26…way ahead of schedule!!! [referencing: State Street Corporation facility, Channel Center, 1 Iron Street, Boston] It is an absolute pleasure working with your team. I have worked in the industry for about 15 years and hands down (not even close) Spectrum has been the absolute best that I have worked with…since relocating here from our NYC office, I still talk and see my old colleagues and I brag to them about the professionalism, work ethic, craftsmanship and great personalities that I deal with when working with Spectrum. I know that we will be using you a lot in the future and I know when I have your team behind me it will be a perfect installation. Thanks again Mike…I tell your team every night but please pass the good words onto them.

David, I just wanted to thank you personally for assembling yet another extraordinary crew to install the newest Fire Alarm system at Emerson in its largest dormitory on campus [at 80 Boylston Street]. Projects of this complexity need great leadership and planning, Paul Arthur, Tom Rose and Paul Healey all stepped up and orchestrated a precise plan of attack that was in turn executed perfectly by Geoff and his team in the field. Holding true to form, the project management team assembled a well-seasoned crew to demo the existing system as part of the end game, tearing through all but the lower levels in two days to be ready for the returning students. All the crew members conducted themselves in a professional, courteous and understanding manner towards the existing occupants and worked around the move ins and outs of the summer conference groups which made my job that much easier.
Outstanding job by all.

He said that the workers are considerate and respectful and overall great to have working in our space…the same is true for the workers who are often here during the day doing field measurements and preparing for upcoming work. This is not a surprise to me, as we have always had very good experience with everyone from Lake and their sub-contractors, but I want you to know how much we appreciate this. Work has been underway for over a week and I have heard nothing negative – and have heard lots of feedback about the general design, how much progress is made each night and how clean the space is every day. “The sense of relief my crew and I felt when Chuck Lambrenos and his team responded in the wee hours of Sunday morning is hard to describe. As in the past, your organization has responded excellently when we have called for help and we look forward to continuing this wonderful relationship.”

“Their work was of the highest quality. When problems arose, they were quick to recommend a solution and fix the problem.”
Industrial Time & Systems of New England, Inc.
“J&M Brown in my opinion made this job. [The] electrical contractor will make or break our projects. As you see, we have a very extensive lighting package and no matter how much experience you have with supermarkets, its a very tough process. Phil especially made the project smooth. We have a very aggressive expansion plan over the next 10 years and Brown will definitely be one of [the] subs we’ll use.”
Whole Foods Market Fire Alarm Division
“The installation of the new fire alarm system at 14 Beacon Street is nearly complete and I wanted to let you know how much we have enjoyed working with J. & M. Brown Company and your staff. Everyone was so courteous and accommodating. As you know, any time you do a project as big as this one there are bound to be numerous problems of every variety. I’m very happy to say, however, that was not the case this time with your company. Paul Nigro did an absolutely outstanding job balancing the needs of our tenants while keeping the job moving along on schedule. There were access issues with one of our tenants and Paul handled that situation so well the work was completed without much notice. You have reason to be very proud of your employees.”
Director Building & Finance 14 Beacon Street
“I just wanted to thank you and your great staff for fixing my long-term electrical problem. You should be very proud of the team you have assembled at J & M Brown. Every member of your team that I worked with was very knowledgeable and very customer-service oriented.”

Spectrum Integrated Technologies — Security Division “[Structuretone] We have spent the last 4 months working on the project at NSTAR. Recently, speaking with some individuals in the facilities department about day to day coordination, they let me know how happy they are with the quality of work that has been provided by [Spectrum IT/J&M Brown tel/data installer] Joe Hanlon. His work has been methodically coordinated, well organized and done to the professional standard that I hope to find on all of my jobs. After all of the day to day fires that we put out and the problems that are overcome, it is nice to have someone step forward and offer some positive feedback. I appreciate when the people we work for offer kind words regarding the quality of the work that we provide and seldom does it get back to the individuals that perform the work. I agree with their thoughts and am happy to have him as part of our team out here at NSTAR.”
Project Superintendent StructureTone Inc. Boston, MA
“I just wrapped up the physical checks of the alarm points with Jason…. I am very pleased that Spectrum took the time to make sure we had a comfort level in the quality of the field work. Jason was extremely professional and I wanted to make sure you knew I was pleased with him personally. It is not often that I call a vendor back to recheck everything we touched and Spectrum did this without hesitation or hassle and your approach quite frankly is refreshing in today’s market. I greatly appreciate the effort and the positive interaction with both you and Jason. I am sure we will have the opportunity to work on future projects at Sanofi, and Jason as well as the Spectrum team are welcome in my facility any time.”
Facilities Manager Sanofi Pasteur 38 Sidney Street Cambridge, MA 02139
“Wagner-Weber Associates, Inc. was engaged by Scholastic Inc. to design a voice and data cable plant for their two new office spaces built at The Arsenal on the Charles office complex in Watertown. As part of a competitive bid process, Spectrum was awarded the job. The implementation team Spectrum assigned to the project displayed a professional work ethic, strong attention to detail, and blended seamlessly with the various trades and client contacts that were onsite during the job. As with many projects, Randy Silva and his team were confronted with a number of changes and modifications and always reacted in a timely and efficient manner with no impact to project deadlines and deliverables. Our company has been in business over 20 years and we have worked on installations across the country, and we were particularly impressed with the extraordinary efforts made by Randy Silva and the Spectrum team to make this project successful. The next time we have a project to be done in the Boston area, we will not hesitate to place the first call to Randy and Spectrum.”

“Your guys are doing some work at the GE project at One Beacon Street and I just wanted to call you to let you know that they’re doing a fantastic job. I know you probably don’t get these phone calls all the time, but, the Denehy brothers have really, really done very well. You have the job manned very well and I just want to thank you for the quality, and expediting the schedule.”
