May 13, 2014 – Boston, MA – J&M Brown Company’s Energy Division, based in Jamaica Plain, MA, has completed the energy efficient lighting upgrade project at Suffolk University Law School on 121 Tremont Street in Boston. The project scope entailed replacing and re-lamping more than 3,000 existing light fixtures with energy efficient LED fixtures and lamps, greatly reducing wattage consumption at the facility.
Power distribution and electrical installations for Blue-Cross/Blue Shield headquarters and data center at 550,000 sf historic Sears Building, constructed in the 1920s. Power requirements included a massive 4000A, 480/277V electrical substation, three 1500KW generators.
Demanding fast-track project entailed comprehensive upgrade to emergency power system: installation of 800kW emergency generator on facility’s roof; 7 new automatic transfer switches, ranging from 225A to 800A; new 2000A switchboard with ground fault protection.
Lighting renovation in historic Old John Hancock Building included installing 100 new LED down lights and replacing existing fixtures. Retrofit more than 300 existing cove lights, parabolic fixtures and wall sconces with new energy-efficient lamps and ballasts.
Energy-efficient lighting project included installing 10 new T5 HO high bay fixtures with integral occupancy sensor controls gymnasium light fixtures in gymnasium.
Installed 108 energy-efficient LED lights and ballasts in cafeteria, common areas, and garage, replacing existing fixtures.

Lighting installations included wiring and installation of 32 LED downlights in clerestory/upper dome; 32 custom Lumenpulse LED uplights in acanthus detail of dome; 50 LED cove lights around lower level perimeter.
